ELS Vocoder

I recently had the chance to try out the ELS Vocoder software and I must say, it exceeded my expectations! As a fan of electronic music, the ability to faithfully reproduce the analog vocoder sounds used by many artists throughout history was a major draw for me. But what really sets this software apart are its unique and powerful features, all while maintaining simplicity of use.

The Sidechain plug-in is a standout feature, allowing for easy and efficient routing of any track to the ELS Vocoder. With the ability to have up to three stereo inputs without complex routing manipulations or multichannel busses, this software truly simplifies the vocoding process.

One of the most impressive features is the flexibility and ease of routing provided by the two sidechain inputs. A multitude of filter bank configurations – including 22, 20, and 18 bands, as well as 24/18/12 dB/oct filters – allows for emulation of various vocoder sounds. This is further complimented by an interface that is both user-friendly and advanced, with easy-to-use controls for each module.

What really stood out to me were the aliasing-free waveforms, producing deep basses, precise mediums, and clear highs that make for a rich and transparent sound. Additionally, the frequency shifter, with its modulation capabilities from the pitch tracker, adds an extra level of versatility to this software.

In summary, the ELS Vocoder is the perfect software for both beginner and advanced producers, with standard vocoder features such as a pitch tracker, voiced/unvoiced detector, two VCOs, two LFOs, and noise generator, alongside multiple waveform options like saw, square, triangle, sine, and multipulse with pulse width and FM modulation. All in all, the ELS Vocoder is a fantastic addition to any electronic music producer's toolkit!
