Emacs on Aqua

Emacs on Aqua is a port of the popular text editor, GNU Emacs, specifically designed for Mac OS X users. It has been optimized for the Cocoa environment by basing it on earlier Rhapsody, OpenStep, and NeXTstep versions, which means it offers superior support for the Aqua interface. This includes full desktop integration such as dock and drag-and-drop functionality, standard keybindings, support for the use of standard Font, Color and File open/save panels, and Services.

Additionally, Emacs on Aqua can also run on other UNIX systems via GNUstep. The current port is based on GNU Emacs 20.7, which is one version behind the latest major release. The developers have plans to update Emacs on Aqua to version 21/22 when the GNU Emacs CVS codebase stabilizes. Version 21/22 is said to offer more advanced features and improvements that will make the editor even more efficient and user-friendly.
