Gentoo PPC64 PS3 LiveCD

If you're looking for a gaming console that doubles as a Linux machine, Sony's introduction of the PS3 is worth considering. Thanks to its Cell processor, it's capable of running most ppc64 binaries without modification. Although there are some differences in the kernel, this project page is dedicated to ensuring that Linux runs seamlessly on the PS3.

If you're interested, you can also take a closer look at the high-resolution version of the GNOME desktop. With the right equipment and a little tinkering (coming soon), the PS3 should be able to boot into high resolution and include features like full GNOME desktop 2.16.x, sound support with Audacious and Rhythmbox, Firefox 2 and Thunderbird, Evolution, Epiphany, and SeaMonkey.
