GiloucheMod

I recently tried GiloucheMod, a modified version of the popular Gilouche GTK theme for GNOME, and was impressed with the results. The steps to creating a nice-looking remake of an already nice theme were quite simple.

Firstly, the modification added a glossy finish to the Metacity, giving it an elegant look. Secondly, the GTK theme was switched to use Ubuntulooks, which gave it a modern and sleek appearance. The interesting thing was that there was no third step, making the installation and usage process quite straightforward.

To install GiloucheMod, all you need to do is right-click on your desktop and select Change Desktop Background. From there, click on the first tab: Theme, and drag and drop the theme's archive in the Appearance Preferences window. If everything is okay, you will instantly receive a confirmation message, and you can activate the theme by simply clicking on it.

For those who might not be familiar with GNOME, it is an international effort to build a complete desktop environment using entirely free software. This desktop environment includes software development frameworks, application software for the desktop, and programs that handle application launching, file handling, and window and task management. GNOME is part of the GNU Project and works perfectly with various Unix-like operating systems, including Linux, and is part of Java Desktop System in Solaris.

The GNOME project is highly focused on simplicity, usability, and ease of use. Their emphasis on making things "just work" is evident in GiloucheMod's design; it's easy to install, simple to use, and looks fantastic. In conclusion, I highly recommend trying out GiloucheMod if you're looking to customize your GNOME desktop with a modern and elegant theme.
