Gnote is a groundbreaking software that is an experimental port of Tomboy to C++. This unique feature of the software allows you to import Tomboy notes with ease. However, at present, the transfer of data has to be done manually. You simply need to copy ~/.tomboy to ~/.gnote.
One thing to note is that Gnote has a deliberate design decision to keep the storage separate from Tomboy. Although this could be seen as a drawback for some users, it guarantees the independence of the two applications.
