I recently had the opportunity to try out a fantastic software that allows you to form words in a crossword-fashion on a board. One of the coolest features of this software is that you can earn bonus points for capturing letters by flanking tiles.
This software includes nine different word lists, ranging from Middle English and Shakespeare to General, American, British and Contractions. It's fantastic to be able to play around with different lists depending on your interests and level of expertise.
In addition to being able to save, load and print games, this software also allows you to choose between playing against no opponent, a human opponent, or a computer opponent at one of four different levels. I loved that I could progress through the levels as I mastered new word lists and improved my gameplay.
Of course, one of the most important features of a software like this is having suggestions and search functions to help guide you when you're stumped.
