Hot Spot X is a modern remake of a classic Mac OS game that's sure to entertain puzzle enthusiasts. The program features four concentric rings around a central spot, as seen in the accompanying screenshots. Additionally, you'll have access to 32 colorful game tiles comprised of unique combinations of symbols and colors (2 x 4 x 4 = 32).
The objective of the game is to work your way from the outer rings towards the center by placing tiles in the central spot while adhering to specific rules. Firstly, tiles cannot match their adjacent neighbors in terms of color or symbol. Additionally, inner ring tiles must match one of the parent tiles they're connected to by color and the other by symbol.
The latest release comes with several improvements, most significantly fixing bonus points for a perfect game not being awarded when applicable. There are also new keyboard shortcuts that allow you to start a new game, end the current game or continue with the current game when presented with a dialog sheet (which appears when you've run out of moves). By simply using command-N or other similar shortcuts, you can initiate these actions.
Also, there's now an implemented score penalty for undoing moves, although the program developers would appreciate feedback on whether there should be one or if it should be less impactful.
