Javacelot is a Java-powered program designed for home automation control with Adicon Ocelot.
Javacelot is a Java-based home automation utility designed for the Adicon Ocelot. This software uses Keane Jarvi's RXTX utility for raw serial port I/O, Jakarta's Log4J for logging, and Ant for building. Javacelot is not an application itself, but rather a tool to help create Java-based home automation applications, particularly heavily threaded Web-based applications.
Javacelot adds a friendly API for triggering and responding to X10, infrared, and other Ocelot signals. It allows you to create and edit several Ocelot programs simultaneously, and all configuration and source files are ordinary text files. Javacelot features a new programming syntax that is similar to C# and Java, with support for multiple scopes, nested conditionals, aliases, and most other Ocelot features. The software also features a built-in text editor with syntax highlighting and error navigation.
You can drag and drop files for sharing between projects or to reorder within a project. The built-in programming API allows you to write your own Ocelot-aware Java applications. Javacelot generates a C-MAX compatible binary for each project, and allows you to upload programs directly to the Ocelot over the serial port using RXTX. This utility also enables you to send X10 commands and monitor X10, IR, and ASCII activity reported by the Ocelot.
Javacelot's requirement is an OS capable of running Java (Linux, Windows, OS X, etc.), Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) version 1.4 or higher. Windows XP requires the full JDK, not just the JRE, for some reason. An Ocelot or Leopard connected to your machine is also necessary.
This release features a bugfix release that allows the use of Unit Code 16. It also includes minor updates to the installer, log4j, and antlr. The binaries have been replaced with equivalents compiled with JDK 1.4 to prevent runtime problems with major.minor version. The binaries should have been 1.4 compatible to begin with, and this has been corrected.
