I Hear U

"I Hear U" is a Voice over IP (VoIP) software that provides easy and minimal network traffic audio streaming between two Linux computers. Communication takes place peer-to-peer, eliminating the need for servers and protocols in the middle. In addition, "I Hear U" supports both UDP and TCP protocols, with the option to choose UDP for quick and easy connections or TCP when firewall or NAT is the only solution.

IHU was developed with the goal of providing the best audio performance, particularly low latency. It is compatible with ALSA, the default Linux sound architecture, and JACK, a low latency sound server. For audio compression, "I Hear U" utilizes Speex, a codec optimized for speech and open source. There is also an option to encrypt the stream using a hybrid cryptographic system (RSA + Blowfish) for increased security.

Moreover, "I Hear U" can be accessed via command line as well, making it suitable for remote computers. The software is free and distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public License. The possibilities of using IHU are limitless, such as talking to friends worldwide or communicating between computers in a LAN.

The latest version includes an improvement in the adjustable ring volume feature and a bug fix for muting playback when seeking files. The source code has also been updated to Speex 1.1.11. The new release supports multiple calls and boasts an improved AGC option. The configuration file has also undergone review, and several bug fixes and improvements have been implemented.
