Version 0.2.3
License GPL v3
Platform Linux
Supported Languages English
Homepage sourceforge.net
Developed by MonkInsane
Ignoramus is a configuration utility designed to work seamlessly with Nagios. It comes with a range of features that allow you to customize your monitoring configuration as per your needs. However, some of the features require additional steps for optimal use.

The "Append to File" section is one such feature, and to get the most out of it, you must ensure that your apache user has write access to your Nagios Config directories. This step ideally ensures that you can keep your configurations up-to-date.

To enable the "Check DNS Resolvement" option in the "Check Command" section, you must first copy the "check_dns" plugin from the "3rd Party Plugins" page. Then, you need to add/replace the following command to your commands.cfg file:

# Generated by IGNORAMUS - The Nagios Config Generator! COPYRIGHT: 2008 - Jurie Botha

# Command definition for check_dns
define command{
command_name check_dns
command_line $USER1$/check_dns -s $HOSTADDRESS$ -H $ARG1$ -w $ARG2$ -c $ARG3$
}

Similarly, to enable the "Check HP Server Status (Plugin A)" option in the "Check Command" section, you need to copy the "check_compaq_insight.pl" plugin from the "3rd Party Plugins" page. After this, you need to add/replace the following command to your commands.cfg file:

# Generated by IGNORAMUS - The Nagios Config Generator! COPYRIGHT: 2008 - Jurie Botha

# Command definition for check_hp_insight
define command{
command_name check_hp_insight
command_line $USER1$/check_compaq_insight.pl -C public -H $HOSTADDRESS$
}

For the "Check NSCA Command Output" option, there are several prerequisites that must be met. Firstly, you must have the NSCA Plugin correctly installed and configured on your Nagios Server.

Secondly, you need to install and set up an NSCA "client" on the machine that you need to monitor. Finally, you must add the following to your "commands.cfg" file:

# Generated by IGNORAMUS - The Nagios Config Generator! COPYRIGHT: 2008 - Jurie Botha

# Command definition for check_dummy
define command{
command_name check_dummy
command_line $USER1$/check_dummy $ARG1$
}

Overall, Ignoramus is a useful and versatile tool for customizing your Nagios configuration, and with a little extra effort in utilizing some of its features, you can create a comprehensive monitoring system with minimal effort.
