ImageWriter is a driver that offers support for printing via AppleTalk to an AppleTalk-enabled ImageWriter II or ImageWriter LQ, and printing via a supported serial port to any of the three models of Apple ImageWriter. It comes with fully supported serial ports with Keyspan USB-to-serial adapters, although other brands may also work. Unfortunately, this driver does not support color printing.
If you opt for the ImageWriter package, you will get the cups-o-matic CUPS filter, the CUPS serial backend for Mac OS X, and foomatic PPD files to support the three ImageWriter printers. The installer for Mac OS X supports the following models: ImageWriter, ImageWriter II, and ImageWriter LQ.
To make use of ImageWriter, you need to get Ghostscript 7.05.5 or later. And be very careful not to run the installer while any print jobs are active!
