ipcam

If you're looking for a motion detection and recording software for your IP camera, ipcam might just fit the bill. Developed and tested on OpenBSD 3.8, it also works on Linux. This software reads the JPEG stream from your camera and compares each image to detect motion, calculating differences in brightness and color.

Once motion is detected, ipcam switches to recording mode and creates a new directory to store the JPEG images in separate files. Once recording is complete, ipcam can launch an external program to further process the JPEG files. For instance, you can use mencoder to create a movie file of the JPEG files.

Do note that ipcam does not accept any command line arguments and will only log to syslog(3). At the moment, it only supports the Sitecom LN-400 or LN-401 camera.
