I recently came across a software solution that addresses one of the biggest limitations of the iPhone's native calendar application. Although 3rd party apps can't access the calendar contents on an iPhone, the use of Google Sync and the Google Data APIs can now bridge that gap.
iphone-gcal is a project that demonstrates how to use Google's Objective-C client libraries to create, retrieve, update, and delete Google Calendar contents. By doing so, Google Sync can then synchronize this data with the iPhone's built-in calendar app, iCal.
Notably, iphone-gcal also harnesses the fact that users may have multiple calendars associated with their Google account. This feature ensures that all calendar contents are fetched and rendered seamlessly.
