Jig is a command-line Jabber client that offers a simple and user-friendly interface inspired by bsflite. This software is designed to be straightforward yet packed with all the necessary features, including GPG encryption and file transfers.

To use Jig, you must first create a file named ~/.jigrc which contains specific information. This includes your JID (jabber ID) which is mandatory, and your password and incomingWav (an optional incoming message sound file). If you set a password, you will not be prompted for it during communications.

In terms of customizing the sound of incoming messages, Jig provides an option for you to add a specific .wav file that will play upon receiving a message. It supports any sound format that is hardcoded as a Signed 16 bit Little Endian (AFMT_S16_LE), and there's a sample sound file called 'beep-06.wav' included if you do not want to search for your own sound file.
