JPEd is a process editor software that is based on JaWE.
Version 2.0
License GPL
Platform Linux
Supported Languages English
Homepage www.jped.org
Developed by The JPEd team
JPEd is a JaWE based process editor that strives to provide users with an enhanced experience. It is an XPDL 1 process editor that is based on the source code of JaWE community edition, with additional features and changes that make it more appealing to both users and developers.

JPEd is a collaborative project that was created by people who believe that the community edition of JaWE is a great enterprise-class XPDL editor but who had to maintain local add-ons or adjustments for various company-related reasons. JPEd was developed as a forked project because the adjustments were similar and tended to be of general use. Initially, JPEd was a subproject at WfMOpen, but it is now a standalone project.

If you need a fully customizable version of JaWE or are seeking cool add-ons to JaWE, JPEd is the perfect tool for you. The developers will try to incorporate the latest community developments of JaWE into the JPEd code tree as much as possible.

JPEd is packed with a range of features that will make your work more efficient. For instance, it has no irritating 30-second splash screen, and you will not lose the layout during load/save operations. The Plugins interface allows you to customize wizards, custom XPDL element editors, custom tooltips, and custom views. Likewise, the tool comes with an integrated form editor and history-related assignment manager for shark users.

The interface is easily customizable using properties files and system properties, allowing you to restrict or extend the available actions in the interface or create a custom layout that is easier to manipulate for end-users. Moreover, you can easily create a custom layout that pre-fills an XPDL or auto-updates to let users concentrate only on your core business.

Other salient features of JPEd include the ability to generate real vectorial (SVG) output of graph, including the Ids of activity, participants, and transitions. You can also create PDF reports of your workflow or customize PDF outputs. The tool also features a condition editor that gives you a dropdown box to select workflow variables and provides syntax highlighting for scripted conditions.

In conclusion, JPEd is an amazing tool that can help you improve your productivity and efficiency. To use this tool, you need Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5 or later installed on your computer. The latest release of JPEd has maven2 integration, plugins available as separate jar, maven2 poms compatible with official repository integration, and all work from plugins development branch migrated to 2.0 during RC1.
