KahenBook

Kahenbook is a CGI/Perl guestbook that offers a simple and customizable solution. As someone who struggled to find a guestbook script with good customization options, I decided to create my own. I wanted a guestbook that offered simple templates and easy administration, without requiring non-programmers to use text fields to delete entries. That's how Kahenbook was born.

Designed with customization in mind, Kahenbook allows for easily created templates that can be fully customized. Entries created on Kahenbook include accurate time, names, email addresses, and homepage URLs, making it easy to keep track of who has posted what. One of Kahenbook's standout features is the intelligent algorithm it uses for linking to further guestbook pages. While it may take some time to get to this point, this feature truly shines once you have around 1,000 entries and 50 pages.

Deleting entries is straightforward; the posting to be deleted is shown to the administrator for quick and easy removal. However, there are some limitations to Kahenbook. For example, the 20 entries per guestbook page limit is hardcoded while the administrator username and password have limited flexibility. Additionally, there is a limit of 65,535 total entries for MySQL databases.

To use Kahenbook, you'll need a webserver with CGI/Perl and a MySQL database. You'll also need some knowledge of Perl for installation purposes. Overall, Kahenbook offers a simple and customizable guestbook solution with some impressive features that make it stand out from the competition.
