KaLiBat

KaLiBat is a software toolbox that calculates the linear heat loss coefficient of a 2D thermal bridge according to European standards EN10211 and EN13370. This software is incredibly useful as it helps to avoid thermal losses that occur due to thermal discontinuity in the building's wall. To reduce thermal losses, better insulation or the use of a thermal break can be employed. In order to evaluate the optimal solution, the linear heat loss coefficient needs to be calculated. KaLiBat can handle a vast variety of situations by allowing modification of materials, sizes, b coefficient of surrounding spaces, surface resistances, and a continuous variation of an "internal" temperature to an "external" temperature.

The software's user interface is very user-friendly, with all parameters that need to be selected or entered displayed on the screen. Calculation of the linear heat loss coefficient can be launched with just the press of a button, and the results are displayed, including the distribution on surrounding spaces. KaLiBat also provides a report printing function for easy documentation.

Accuracy is a crucial factor when using software like KaLiBat, and it has been extensively analyzed. Many comparisons showed that KaLibat can achieve accuracy values lower than 30% for slab-on-grade floors and, in other configurations, lower than 12%. However, if the screed is taken into account, the accuracy level remains satisfactory, ranging from 15% to 20%. For the geometry displayed on the screen, calculation is performed by a finite volumes method with an automatic meshing, which provides reliable results.
