kalsamix

Kalsamix is a powerful mixer specifically designed for the ALSA sound system on KDE. It originated from the kamix project which had to be renamed due to a naming conflict with other open source projects. To transition from kamix to kalsamix, users are advised to rename the $HOME/.kde/share/config/kamixrc to kalsamixrc in the same directory.

Kalsamix has multiple features that allow for customization, including support for multiple soundcards, the ability to adjust every single item or mute/unmute them, separate level adjustments for items that have more channels, and the ability to save and recall preset levels. The mixer also provides the option to selectively show/hide soundcards or individual items, rename items, and group items together.

Other features of the mixer include a configurable "main volume" item in case ALSA fails to correctly select the appropriate one, a system tray with a volume tooltip, quick access to the main volume control by clicking on the systray, and the ability to mute/unmute by clicking on the systray with OSD volume changes notification.

Recent updates to Kalsamix include bug fixes for explicit reference to libkdeui (KDE4), items font always being bold, and making mid-button action selectable by a combo box in the configuration window. Overall, Kalsamix is a highly customizable and full-featured mixer for ALSA sound systems on KDE.
