Kooka is a user-friendly, open-source scanning software for GNU/Linux that is easy to navigate and operate.
I recently had the opportunity to use Kooka as a GNU/Linux scan program and I must say, I was impressed with its features and ease of use. This open source program is released under the GNU General Public License and is the scan application of choice for the KDE project, making it an official part of the KDE Graphics Package.
Kooka provides a user-friendly interface that allows you to easily handle the most important scan parameters, find the correct image file format to save, and manage your scanned images. It also has support for different OCR modules, making it a versatile tool for various scanning purposes.

You can create and remove folders to organize your image collections, and it offers basic image manipulation functions like rotating and cropping. Other features include intelligent zooming, image printing in original and custom size, and correct handling of picky tiff images like multipage tiffs. You can even drag and drop images with other KDE programs.
Kooka's OCR functionality is also noteworthy, as it supports both open source and commercial OCR projects. It works with GOCR, a widely used open source OCR project, as well as KADMOS, a commercial OCR/ICR toolbox. It also interfaces with Ocrad, a free software OCR program.
