LOSSA

As a software reviewer, I had the opportunity to test out the home automation system called LOSSA. This system was designed with a distributed network of devices that have a simple interconnect system, personal computer intercommunication, simple wiring, and very low cost. The project is currently in the architectural development state, and the team has made the files available for download, including this readme, to collect feedback from those who have experience in similar projects.

One thing that stood out to me was that due to the contained price, easy requisition, wide variety of opensource development tools, and very little external components requirements, Microchip's pic16f84 was a mandatory choice in any case. It's an excellent option for those looking for a low-cost home automation solution.

I was pleased to see that the team has made updates to this release. They have added an application showing internal pic eeprom usage and TIL311 interfacing, among other improvements. Additionally, the team has defined EEPROM Memory Assignments for config and power fail retention, reviewed the transmission type, collision detection, and physical medium, and included a tools directory with PicMicro developing and programming tools. They have also reorganized the documentation, reviewed the transmission protocol, and made a Makefile (just for packaging for now).

Overall, I found this home automation system to be a promising option for those looking for an affordable and simple solution. The team's focus on feedback, open-source development tools, and easy requisition makes it an attractive option, and I look forward to seeing how this project continues to evolve.
