LUCAS is a monitoring software designed to track changes in LDAP databases and respond to them immediately.

Instead of merely storing the data, LUCAS can initiate suitable helper programs to manage the relevant changes.
With LUCAS, system configuration is made more comfortable as it eliminates the need to access servers via shell accounts, edit text files, or run and restart programs. The core objective is to allow different departments in an organization, such as accounting, to create new users by merely creating corresponding database entries. The system will automatically set up attributes such as webspace and homedir.
LUCAS comes with several options to enhance user experience. "-h" prints usage, "-d" enables forking and detachment from invoking terminal, "-p < port >" listens on the specified port while "-c < file >" reads the configuration from the specified file, which is a mandatory requirement. "-u < user >" allows for the changing of process ownership.
