Developed by Mach64 Team
Mach64 video4linux2 is a reliable video4linux device driver that has been specifically designed for older Mach64 TV tuner cards. Users can rest assured that this driver is very alpha, and has only been tested with a few cards: a 4 MB All-in-wonder capture card, a 2 MB ATI Rage II with an ISA add-on TV card, and an ATI Rage Pro video card with an ISA add-on TV card. There are two versions available for this software, one of which is compatible with 2.6.* and the other with 2.4.* kernels.

The module options for Mach64 video4linux2 are incredibly straightforward and provide users with the necessary flexibility to optimize their experience fully. Users can enable debug options and set the debug level, disable all v4l2 functions, disable dma support, and disable interlace. Additionally, the height of the output can be automatically adjusted to provide better snapshots in xawtv snapshots.

Other module options include half-width, which cuts the max width in half, tunertype, which allows users to set the TV type, and forceromaddr, which forces romaddr to 0x000C0000. The tunertype option is particularly helpful as it defaults to ntsc(1), providing users with an easy way to optimize for their specific needs.

Mach64 video4linux2 provides users with the ability to perform several example commands. For instance, MPlayer can be used to run TV inputs, and the user can set options such as input, norm, outfmt, width, height, and chanlist. To capture video using FFmpeg, users can specify the video device and audio device and define parameters such as rate, size, and codec.

When using this software, it is important that your card has an IRQ assigned to it. Additionally, users should note that if they have multiple video cards and the ATI card is not set as the primary card, they cannot load the module until X has enabled it. Users should also remember to load the videodev module when using this driver.

This software provides support for older ATI cards, and there is a great deal of potential for improving its capabilities. However, there are known bugs that users should be aware of. For example, the software can only capture from one card at a time, and it may hang if multiple cards are used. Users should also note that if they are using kernel 2.4.*, they will need to update the video4linux header files videodev.h and videodev2.h.

Overall, Mach64 video4linux2 is a reliable driver that provides users with the necessary flexibility to optimize their viewing experience fully. The latest release of this driver includes DMA support for AMD-64 machines, making it even more powerful and effective.
