Molegro Data Modeller is a cross-platform software that facilitates data mining, modeling and visualization with ease. Its features enable data analysts to better understand their data sets with interactive visualization tools.
I recently tried the Molegro Data Modeller, a cross-platform software solution designed for Data Mining, Data Modelling, and Data Visualization. I was impressed by its user-friendly spreadsheet centered interface, which makes it a great alternative to more complicated command-driven statistical products.
One of the key features that I loved was the variety of regression methods available, including Multiple Linear Regression, Partial Least Squares, Neural Networks, and Support Vector Machines, all of which allow for modeling of highly non-linear relations. Additionally, feature selection and cross-validation are easy to set up using the regression wizard, and different descriptor rankings can be employed when searching for descriptors. The visualization capability made working with data a breeze, allowing for user-defined coloring schemes and the addition of artificial noise to data plots.
The software also offers two types of clustering, efficient K-means clustering and density-based clustering, which is ideal for capturing complex cluster shapes. The Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method is used for reducing the dimensionality of a dataset by creating a new set of principal components using linear combinations of the original descriptors. The software provides algebraic data transformations, allowing for direct manipulation of columns, as well as two methods for outlier detection: a quartile based method and a density-based method.
Another cool feature I appreciated was the advanced subset creation method of creating a diverse subset of a dataset using a grid-based approach. Additionally, the software offers data preparation, scaling, normalization, repair of missing values, data coloring, a correlation matrix, custom data views, and a similarity browser. Gnuplot export allows for creating high-quality, customizable plots. The software also offers online help and automatically checks for updates.
The software does come with a 30-day trial license key, which must be requested before download. However, I found that the benefits of using the software far outweighed any limitations during my trial period.
