This software enables MP3 surround file playback on Mac systems.
MP3 Surround Player is a software that allows you to play MP3 Surround files with or without MP3 Stereo eXtended (MP3 SX) technology, as well as standard MP3 stereo files on your multichannel soundcard. The Ensonido technology lets you render MP3 Surround files for headphones too.
Launching the MP3sPlayer is easy, just open an MP3(Surround) file or drag it onto the player window. However, make sure that a 5.1 capable soundcard is installed and 5.1 speakers are connected for loudspeaker reproduction. Additionally, the speaker settings must be set to '5.1 Surround Sound'. For headphone reproduction with Ensonido, a 2 channel output is sufficient.
If the player detects an MP3 Surround file, it will automatically start reproducing the file in 5.1 surround sound. You have the option to choose between three reproduction modes - 5.1, 5.1 for Headphones and Stereo. The 5.1 mode plays MP3 Surround or MP3 SX files on 5.1 speaker setups. With the 5.1 for Headphones mode, you can render MP3 Surround or MP3 SX files for surround headphone reproduction using Ensonido technology. Lastly, the stereo mode plays the stereo part of MP3 Surround or MP3 SX files on two loudspeakers or headphone.
Upon restarting the software, it will automatically restore the previous reproduction mode. It will use the surround reproduction only when the selected MP3 file from the playlist carries surround information.
