Prepare for an intense chess battle with this software. Get ready to hone your strategic skills and take down your opponents on the digital board.

At the start of the game, each player is assigned a set of 16 pieces consisting of 1 king, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights, and 8 pawns. Players take turns making moves within a time limit indicated by a timer on the left of the screen, failure to do so leads to losing the game.
Each type of piece has its own unique moves and capabilities. The pawn can only move forward, usually one square at a time but can choose to move two squares forward during its first move. It can also capture an opponent's piece diagonally by moving one square forward.
If an opponent's pawn moves two squares forward and lands on a square adjacent to your pawn, you can capture it by using the "en passant" move. When your pawn reaches the farthest row on your opponent's side, it gets promoted and transformed into a queen, rook, bishop, or knight.
Rooks can move and capture horizontally or vertically for any distance. Knights move and capture in an L-shaped pattern, while bishops move and capture diagonally for any distance. The queen is the most powerful piece; it can move and capture horizontally, vertically, or diagonally for any distance.
The King can move and capture one square in any direction. It can also perform a special move called castling once in every game. This move involves switching the place of the king and the rook, providing an opportunity to protect the king and improve the position of the rook.
In summary, chess is a game of strategy and patience that challenges players to think critically and strategically. The rules are simple, but the gameplay is complex, with endless possibilities for different moves and strategies. If you love strategy games, chess is a must-play!
