Namistai

Namistai is a software that connects an HTTP client (i.e., browser/user-agent) to Windows file shares - also known as SMB or CIFS. The software has several use cases; for example, when you want to grant access to files but don't require all the functionality of Windows shares, have a slow connection in your network, don't have root access but have permission from your sysadmin, or don't want to run a web server. Additionally, Namistai is suitable when your environment cannot read SMB or CIFS.

However, it is not needed when you have a fast network connection, all your computers are in the same network (i.e., have smb mounts and standard Windows sharing for that purpose), or you don't have Perl.

To use Namistai, you need a Perl 5.8.0 and Samba. The latest release of Namistai includes the latest bug fix - connection-reset-by-peer - that occurred when handling multiple (Keep-Alive connection) requests with HEAD. The update also comes with improved general HEAD/Keep-Alive handling.
