Open-Apple is a remarkable Apple II emulator designed for Linux operating system. The emulator currently supports full emulation of an enhanced Apple IIe computer with an impressive range of peripheral cards such as clock, mouse, memory expansion, and hard drive, making it a powerful and versatile option for anyone looking to experience an authentic Apple II computing environment.

The Apple II is one of the most recognizable and successful microcomputers ever produced. Manufactured by Apple Computer (now Apple Inc.), the Apple II was the first mass-produced microcomputer product that brought early computing into homes across the globe. The Apple II was a significant advancement in terms of ease of use, features, and expandability. It paved the way for modern computing and is still celebrated for its historical significance.

Introduced at the West Coast Computer Faire in 1977, the Apple II became one of the first successful personal computers, launching Apple into a thriving business. Throughout the years, multiple models of the Apple II were introduced and sold, with the most popular model manufactured for decades with relatively minor changes. By the time production ended in 1993, an estimated five to six million Apple II series computers had been produced, including approximately 1.25 million Apple IIGS models.

The Apple II was immensely popular in American education during the 1980s and much of the 1990s, with many still operational in classrooms to this day. The Apple II was equally popular with business users and families, thanks in part to the launch of VisiCalc, the revolutionary spreadsheet software that initially ran exclusively on the Apple II. The original Apple II operating system featured only the BASIC interpreter built into it.

Overall, Open-Apple perfectly captures the essence of the iconic Apple II experience, making it an ideal choice for anyone who wants to relive the era of early computing or simply explore the legacy of one of the most important machines in modern history.
