Oracle Data Access Components (ODAC) provides exceptional performance and direct access to Oracle database server. ODAC includes a set of VCL native components specifically designed for Kylix, Delphi, and C++ Builder. It supports a wide range of Oracle specific features, streamlining client/server application development.
ODAC's Net option enables direct connectivity through TCP/IP, eliminating the need for Oracle's software on the client side. Its use offers numerous advantages, including simplified data updating, the execution of lengthy stored procedures in a separate thread, and advanced design-time editors. Further, ODAC components possess interfaces (methods, properties) that are very similar to standard data access components, such as TDatabase, TQuery, and others. Additionally, it supports all data-aware components.
The Net option of ODAC supports Oracle 8 feathers, including BLOB, CLOB, and BFile data types, objects, arrays, references, and nested tables. It also provides automatic record locking and refreshing, which speeds up data fetching from the database.
