Developed by PHLAK Team
PHLAK is a live security Linux distribution that is designed to be modular. It features two light GUIs, namely XFCE4 and fluxbox, along with multiple security tools and a spiral notebook full of security documentation. Created by Alex de Landgraaf, it is a derivative of Morphix.

The story starts with two coffee drinkers from Longview, Texas - James Hartman and Shawn Hawkins. The two developers were passionate about Linux and security. They began looking at live security distributions but were not satisfied with the existing options. So they decided to create a complete live security Linux distribution themselves. They settled on Morphix because of its modularity and, after three months of development, released the initial version. Two months later, version 0.2 was released with all fifteen pieces of flair.

PHLAK is specially designed as a security professional's toolkit. It is not intended to make a security guru out of an inexperienced user overnight. However, anyone with the desire to learn can do so using the tools and documentation included in PHLAK. Regardless of whether you are a Jedi or a Sith, PHLAK can be used by everyone.

PHLAK comes loaded with mainstream security tools such as nmap, nessus, snort, the coronor's toolkit, ethereal, and several others. It also includes lesser-known but equally effective tools such as hping2, proxychains, lczroex, ettercap, kismet, hunt, achilies, brutus, and many others. The distribution is a genuine Linux release and includes common services such as Apache, MYSQL, SSH, IPTables, and many others.

To make the distribution more user-friendly, PHLAK includes two lightweight window managers - XFCE4 (the default) and Fluxbox. These window managers provide easy access to the powerful documentation system. XFCE4's user interface features quick-start buttons to initiate services and different firewall settings for those unfamiliar with the command line.

PHLAK is still a work in progress, and every version brings improvements closer to the developers' original vision. The developers are dedicated to expanding and updating the PHLAK security arsenal, as well as making it more available to a broader user base. Their aim is to make PHLAK the go-to Professional Hacker's Linux Assault Kit. In today's unfriendly online environment, it is essential to arm yourself with the best tools available - and PHLAK provides just that.
