PhotoGallery is a user-friendly and straightforward image gallery software that creates image thumbnails automatically. Written in PHP and utilizing GD2 for image manipulation, PhotoGallery is flexible and easy to integrate into existing software or web pages.
In this release, PhotoGallery2 implements the Souken Templating Engine as its new system to replace Smarty, resulting in a smaller distribution size and improved setup process. The new scaling code now allows for "target dimensions" to preserve high-quality images, ensuring that scaled images are always saved at 100% quality.
Scaled images are now uniform at maximum size, and clicking on a scaled view image links visitors directly to the image on the server, giving them a better browsing experience. Further, Language files can be used to add localized text, and PhotoGallery will automatically select the correct text based on users' Web browser headers.
With assorted code improvements, PhotoGallery2 offers better performance and lower memory consumption. Finally, this release offers only a few of the many features the team has planned, and users can look forward to these upcoming additions.
