Popfinder software monitors network and records IP addresses of POP3 user logins.
This software is a small daemon that helps locate which IP is using POP3 to which server with which username. Its primary purpose is to figure out which users are using which IP/workstation.
The application offers several valid options, including "-i interface" for specifying which interface to listen to (e.g., eth0), "-l logfile" for running multiple instances of the app and using separate log files (default: /var/log/pop_usage.db), and "-p" for turning off promiscuous mode sniffing.
Additionally, the "-U username/UID" option allows users to run the app under a specific user ID for extra security, and the socket will be opened before setting the user ID. The "-C /path" option is also available for the paranoid penguins, allowing them to specify which chroot jail to use.
