Firefox add-on for translating P3P.
When it comes to P3P translation, AT&T's Privacy Bird is the go-to browser tool, but unfortunately, it's limited to Internet Explorer. To address this, a project was launched to develop a simpler version for Firefox, given the user-base's preference for privacy.
The ultimate goal of this project is to provide a concise summary of the privacy policy for P3P-enabled sites, striking a balance between user-awareness and a complete and accurate translation. For those unfamiliar with it, P3P is a W3C-ratified XML standard that websites use to publish their privacy policies in machine-readable form.
Software tools on the client end, called user agents, are able to read these policies and perform various tasks such as notifying the user or changing transactions (e.g. not accepting cookies). For Firefox users, the Privacy Fox extension is available, which creates short privacy notices for P3P-enabled sites. Overall, this project is a much-needed addition to the software community for those seeking better privacy control while browsing the web.
