This software conducts probability analysis for project assessment purposes. It enables project managers to make informed decisions based on risk assessment and probability computations.
Project Analysis is a set of scripts designed for project analysis. Its main objective is to determine the likelihood of a project's duration and cost by utilizing the concept of Monte Carlo Analysis and adapting it to project management. The output results are presented in CSV files that can be easily imported into other applications, HTML representations, and a GML-File providing a network diagram that's also compatible with yEd.
To use Project Analysis, you need to input a project plan that's completely linked, like a network diagram. Loops are allowed as long as a start and endpoint are available. Note that loops from the very end to the very beginning aren't possible, and wrong predecessors will be deleted. Additionally, tasks that have a duration of 0 are automatically identified as milestones. Hence, the tool will add a milestone at the beginning and end of the project.
Project Analysis allows you to adjust parameters, such as Iterations, which determines the number of simulations to run. The maximum iteration is 10,000, but the tool adjusts automatically according to the input. Rounding for duration and cost is another essential parameter that determines how granular statistical data is gathered. For instance, a value of 1 means that 12.4 is equivalent to 12, while a value of -1 means that both 12.4 and 10 are equally represented statistically.
The output results of Project Analysis are numerous and readily available in different forms. These include statistical data showing how often a project takes a certain duration or incurs a particular cost, which is presented in both CSV and HTML formats. The tool also provides statistical data that correlates the timing and cost of a project, as well as the occurrence of each combination.
Moreover, Project Analysis displays the percentage of tasks on the critical path of each task, as well as the average lag of each task, all of which is presented in CSV format. Finally, the network plan, which shows statistical data, is presented in GML.
