RapidScript is a RealMac Software plugin that enhances RapidWeaver's web site building capabilities.
As a plugin for the web site generator from RealMac Software, RapidWeaver, RapidScript is a fantastic software that greatly expands the capabilities of RapidWeaver. It enables users to build web pages using AppleScript, the high-level scripting language of Mac OS X. This scripting language allows users to build pages containing data from other scriptable applications such as Pages, Address Book, iTunes, TextEdit, Finder, FileMaker, Excel, and the script extracts the data and shapes it into HTML for the web.
Once the data has been extracted and shaped into HTML, RapidScript builds the page within RapidWeaver, with complete respect of the site's theme and CSS. Not only does RapidScript provide the ability to use any scriptable application to build a custom solution, but users can also display information exactly the way they need it by employing simple HTML styles and CSS. RapidScript comes with integrated short example scripts that make use of Address Book, Finder, iTunes from which users can learn how to extract system data such as the computer type, user's name, and amount of memory.
Users can make use of the scriptable Finder to create hierarchical catalogs of their folders, while also using Address Book to grab data to publish a group of records on a page that is always up-to-date. Users only need to have RapidWeaver to use RapidScript as the plugin is designed to integrate with this software.
