RazerS

RazerS is a software tool that has been designed with a specialized focus on mapping next-generation sequencing reads to entire DNA genomes. This powerful tool is specifically built to search for matches of reads with a percent identity that exceeds a user-defined threshold. Importantly, it can successfully detect matches in reads that contain mismatches and gaps.

To achieve these complex tasks, RazerS uses a k-mer index of all reads and then counts common k-mers of both reads and the reference genome in parallelograms. Each parallelogram with a k-mer count that surpasses a specific threshold then triggers a further verification process. When successful, RazerS stores the genomic subsequence and the corresponding read number - this is then written to the output file.

Currently, RazerS is available across multiple platforms, with support for Mac OS X, Windows, Linux, and Linux 64. It delivers fast and precise read mapping capabilities that make it an essential tool for DNA researchers and scientists.
