A plugin for libpurple that enables Rediffbol messaging services.
Rediffbol-prpl is a plugin designed specifically for libpurple, the powerful backend that runs numerous open source messenger clients, such as Pidgin and Adium. This plugin offers a wide range of functions, including the ability to send and receive chat messages, both online and offline.
In addition to this, rediffbol-prpl allows users to format received messages up to Italics and bold. The plugin also supports typing notifications, adding and removing buddies, as well as authorizing or denying addrequests.
Furthermore, the software makes it easy for users to view and set avatars (also known as Buddy Icons), although it's worth noting that setting up an avatar is only supported through Rediff's webinterface. Lastly, rediffbol-prpl offers group management functionality.
Despite the numerous features mentioned, there are some limitations to the software. Unfortunately, font faces and font styles in received messages are not yet supported for technical reasons, and outgoing messages cannot be formatted.
Furthermore, the software does not currently support chat rooms, which may come as a surprise to some users. Finally, it's worth noting that rediffbol-prpl does not currently support HTTP proxy, although the developers acknowledge that it's technically possible with some additional work required to implement this feature.
