rlocate

If you're looking for an alternative to the "locate" command that's always up-to-date, rlocate project is definitely worth checking out. Unlike the original "locate," which only updates its database once a day, rlocate is specifically designed to maintain a diff database that gets updated every time a new file is created or a directory is moved. This means you'll never have to worry about not being able to locate newer files right away.

Like slocate, the behavior of rlocate is the same but with the added advantage of always staying up-to-date. The only downside is that the rlocate kernel module can only be compiled with a Linux 2.6 kernel.

That being said, there are some new features in this release that are worth mentioning. Thanks to a patch by Rudi Lippert, you can now adjust the interval for rlocated to suit your needs. Additionally, concurrent access to the same database has been disabled to prevent any conflicts.
