RLS AVON

RLS AVON is a computer-based learning system that allows students to enhance their education through lectures and multiple choice tests. This software can be referred to as computer aided instruction or an e-learning platform, and has the capability to deliver instruction on its own. One of the best features of RLS AVON is its ability to support both Microsoft Windows and Linux, and it can also be utilized with Mac OS X.

This software comes completely free, under the category of open source software as defined by the GNU General Public License version 2 or a chosen later version. RLS AVON comes with a lesson editor that can be used by educators to create customized lessons, complete with text formatting and images. The lesson files are based on XML and are designed to be both vendor and platform neutral. It is important to note that RLS AVON does not come with any lessons, though it does support NOVA lessons.

RLS AVON is compatible with NOVA lessons by Innovative Learning Systems, and only two parts (ILCMENU.EXE and GED32.EXE) were replaced for this integration to work. To utilize the software, the following requirements must be met: wxWidgets 2.5.4, TinyXML, and GCC. In the latest release, NOVA 7 2005 has been added, as well as bug fixes for DOSBox. Additionally, RPMs are now available for Fedora Core 4.
