RPMDIG

RPMDIG is a useful script for assessing the recursive RPM dependencies of a specific RPM, as well as the list of files and libraries required by these RPMs. The software is easy to use, with the following command line structure: rpmdig rpm-name [OPTIONS] or rpmdig [OPTIONS] rpm-name.

The OPTIONS available with this software include various levels of verbosity, as well as options for displaying required RPMs, libraries, and files. Users can also choose to display unrecognised items or to suppress library names in the output list of libraries. Additionally, the software can be set to not scan RPMs recursively, or to skip the process of looking up a file or library's associated RPM.

One important note is that the order of display flags -f, -l, -r, and -u is dependent on the user's preferences.

Overall, RPMDIG delivers a range of options for exploring RPM dependencies and is easy to use. In this new release, performance has been improved by removing duplicate items and not checking them, the software is now compatible with RPMs with the same name on different architectures, and the license has been updated to GNU GPL v3. RPMDIG has also been successfully tested on Fedora 7.
