Samurai-x2 is a window manager that is currently being developed in Python. It builds on the work of its predecessor, samurai-x1, which was based on Xlib. However, development on samurai-x1 has ceased. Samurai-x2, on the other hand, is based on an Xcb binding.
The entire samurai-x2 codebase is written in Python and uses the ctypes library. It relies on several other libraries, such as xcb and 'xcb-keysyms' from xcb-util, cairo and its xcb backend, and librsvg.
While samurai-x2 was originally based on code from samurai-x1, it has since evolved into a markedly different software product. Nonetheless, the developers found the codebase of samurai-x1 to be a useful reference and have also drawn on the code of another, unnamed source as an essential resource in their work.
