Secret of Eternia is a 2D RPG developed using ClanLib library. It offers a captivating storyline and challenging gameplay elements, making it an exciting experience for RPG fans.
I recently had the opportunity to try out Secret of Eternia, a 2D RPG game developed using ClanLib. The application is very user-friendly, and the easiest way to get started is to use the example map that comes with the game.
To access the example map, simply open up the program and navigate to File-Open. From there, you can select the first map in the maps/ folder (maps/1.fmp) to get started. This map looks just like the first screen in the game demo, so it's easy to jump right in.
The map editor is divided into 2 main sections. The larger section displays a preview of the map you are working on, while the left side menu lists all available "blocks." You can select a block to use it as your current "brush," and then edit the map by clicking in the map area.
To create different landscapes and designs, simply play around with the map editor and experiment with different blocks. You can even save your changes and see them in action by starting up the game. Just be sure to keep a backup of the original map in case you need to revert back.
The latest release of Secret of Eternia includes some exciting new features such as bug fixes, Lua support, lighting effects, and fully working Windows support. Overall, I would highly recommend Secret of Eternia to anyone looking for a fun and user-friendly 2D RPG game.
