SEMAINE project's initial public demo resulting from a year-long developmental effort.
The SEMAINE project aims to create a Sensitive Artificial Listener (SAL), a dialogue system that can interact with human users in a sustained conversation. This multimodal system requires social interaction skills, which are challenging to achieve. As such, the project proposes a system architecture that performs multimodal analysis and generation in a user-and-ECA (Embodied Conversational Agent) dialogue situation.
The SEMAINE project has developed an API that enables processing components to communicate with each other based on the proposed architecture. These components use appropriate representation formats to facilitate communication between them. Currently, an initial set of components can only partially realize the core functions of the SAL system.
It is worth noting that the system is not yet fully operational and cannot function in real-time. The SEMAINE project's primary goal is to give an "early view" to technologically interested experts to showcase the direction in which the project is going.
The SEMAINE platform aims to facilitate cooperation between individuals and research teams interested in the field of SAL.
