ShareRight

ShareRight is a powerful network administration tool that provides users with detailed analysis of all file shares and documents on their network, along with associated NTFS permissions. With the ease of discovery and quick launch of shared folders and VNC viewer, ShareRight allows for simple and efficient network management.

The application also allows users to record notes for each machine, which comes in handy for support and maintenance purposes. When run by a Domain Administrator, ShareRight's network scanner builds a comprehensive database containing all known shares on servers and workstations, both administrative ($ shares) and network shares, and their corresponding NTFS permissions.

Folders can be scanned for documents, and once the scan is complete, the application and database can be utilized to produce reports on sharing by any machine, user, or group. Unlike tools intended for live use, the ShareRight software is designed to retain data after machines are switched off, maintaining a complete picture of the network's shares, documents, and VNC servers available for anyone with access to the database.

Another remarkable feature of ShareRight is that users can set a default VNC password, or configure it individually for each remote machine, giving convenient one-click access to a remote desktop, using encrypted password storage. The database can also be shared amongst multiple users for viewing, reporting, and VNC access, even if they do not have domain administration rights.
