Strato Log Download is a Perl script that allows users to download logfiles from Strato hosting sites' web accounts. One issue with regular downloads is that they are interactive, and the server typically only keeps the logs for six weeks. This makes it easy to lose vital log information if you forget to download them once every six weeks.
With Strato Log Download, users can log in via the SSL-encrypted web interface and download files without needing a web browser. The script supports configurable proxies via the https_proxy environment variable.
Keep in mind that for SSL support, users may need to install additional Perl modules that include crypto stuff. Users can choose between IO::Socket::SSL or Net::SSL in Crypt::SSLeay to enable https access. If the SSL module is missing, then https access will not work.
Using Strato Log Download is user-friendly. After entering the following command, users can easily download their logs: "$ get-logfiles -p mypassword www.mysite.de > logfile.gz"
