Sudoku Savant

Sudoku Savant is a user-friendly software that allows you to solve and generate Sudoku puzzles through logical means. It offers a simple GUI interface and generates standard Sudoku puzzles with grids ranging from 3x3 to 5x6 or 6x5. This software utilizes various strategies such as Singletons, Locked candidates, Number subsets, X-Wings, Swordfish, and Jellyfish, as well as Simple and Multi-Colouring to provide a complete step-by-step solution for puzzles that you may find in newspapers or magazines.

In addition, Sudoku Savant has the option to use "trial and error" as a last resort to solve extremely complicated puzzles with unique solutions. The advanced strategies can be parameterized or turned off to determine their necessity in the puzzle-solving process.

Sudoku Savant also allows you to solve puzzles by hand with features such as cell coloring, up to 4 pencil marks per cell, and hints to help you avoid any incorrect moves. Partially completed puzzles can be saved in a simple text format so that you can resume solving them later.

Sudoku Savant requires GTK 2.x, g++ >= 3.3, and desktop-file-utils to run. The latest update includes NLS with a German translation, with the possibility of adding more translations in the future.
