This innovative software offers an array of key features, starting with its ability to automatically prompt users to tag any document they create (but only if the document is being created in one of the specified directories). Tagji also allows users to store directory trees as single documents–think source code trees or sets of pictures taken at the same occasion–and simply tag the directory itself, rather than tagging all the files it contains.
Tag information is stored in the filename, ensuring portability as long as files are not moved to filesystems that only support short filenames, and offering low risk of losing document metadata, as filesystems do not "corrupt" or "accidentally delete" file names often.
This software requires Linux version 2.6.15 or above, with inotify support, and a recent version of Python installed (tested on version 2.5). It also requires Qt 4 (tested on version 4.2.1).
