TCalc+ is a software program that specializes in analyzing the Noise and Intermodulation performance of radio receiver front-ends. Based on TCALC, a program originally written in BASIC by Ian White, G3SEK, TCalc+ now includes the benefits of the Macintosh user interface to enhance speed and usability.
TCalc+ stores the individual stages of a receiver in a symbolic form, with the capability of allocating up to 8 stages as either Amplifier, Antenna, Cable, Mixer or Attenuator. To evaluate a system, begin by using the toolbox to select the desired type of stage for each receiver stage. Next, input the Gain in dB, Noise Figure in dB (or Noise Temperature in °K), and 3rd Order Input Intercept Point (IP3) for each stage. Finally, simply press Calculate to receive the overall results.
One limitation of TCalc+ is that it only runs on Mac OS Classic. Nonetheless, the program provides a powerful tool for analyzing radio receiver front-end performance with ease and efficiency.
