TeleGNOME

TeleGNOME is a software that allows users to display teletext pages over the Internet. The program is designed for the GNOME Networked Object Model Environment and is currently able to support teletext feeds from various countries. Originally, TeleGNOME only supported teletext feeds from the Netherlands, but in time, it has grown to support multiple feeds. These feeds are called channels, and users can view which ones are currently supported by visiting the channels page.

The program is straightforward and easy to use, making it an excellent alternative to loading up a large, slow web browser to view teletext pages. TeleGNOME is released under the GNU General Public License, so users can access the software and make modifications as they see fit.

TeleGNOME also offers translations in several languages, including az (Vasif İsmayıloğlu MD), fr (fred), pt_BR (Ricardo Soares Guimarães), sv (Christian Rose), zh_CN (Wen ShaoHua). This ensures that users from various regions can access teletext pages in their own language.

Installation of TeleGNOME requires an ANSI C-compiler (tested with gcc, version 2.7.3, 2.95.2, and with egcs, v1.0.1), as well as GTK+ and GLib version 2.x, which can be found on www.gtk.org. Users should also have GNOME-Libs, version 2.x and GnomeVFS, version 2.x, which may not be installed by default. Lastly, users should have gdk-pixbuf, version 2.x. If GNOME is installed in /usr (which is the default setting), users can install TeleGNOME by entering the following commands: ./configure --prefix=/usr make (become root) make install.

The latest version of TeleGNOME has some exciting new features, including a new maintainer, Colin Watson, and a port to GNOME 2, GnomeVFS, and gnome-doc-utils. These updates ensure that users can access teletext pages quickly and efficiently.
