Warsync

Warsync is an exceptional program designed to initiate replication between the Warsync server and its clients. With the capacity to be called from the command line of the Warsync server, Warsync facilitates the initiation of replication on demand. Additionally, it can be called from cron on the server to automate the replication process.

This software offers beyond just file replication as it can also synchronize software packages installed on a Debian GNU/Linux system. It simplifies the process of determining what files to replicate by processing the /etc/warsync/filepacks.d directory on the server. This directory contains filepacks that are simple text files with lists of the files and directories that should be replicated.

To install Warsync on a Debian GNU/Linux system, downloading the Debian package is the best approach. Once downloaded, installation is easy with dpkg. In case of an error regarding missing dependencies, a call to apt-get can resolve the issue. Also, Warsync can be installed manually from the source tarball. However, it's worth noting that this method has not been tested.

This release comes with several new improvements. The introduction of filepack replication enhances its efficiency. The Debian package snapshot has also undergone significant improvements. The output is better, whereby -q and -v actually mean something alongside special handling when run from non-tty.
