WeedIt

I recently had the opportunity to test out the WeedIt software, which is a handy tool for detecting duplicate files. The software uses both MD5 and CRC32 to scan for duplicates, providing a comprehensive search that ensures no duplicate files are left behind. One key feature of WeedIt is its automaintaining database, which detects when a file from the database goes missing.

While the software currently lacks a complete readme file, it is incredibly simple to use and navigate. I had a lot of fun playing around with it and exploring its various features. Additionally, the software comes equipped with the readdb tool, which allows users to translate databases into plain text.

To get started with WeedIt, simply compile the software using the command "gcc -o readdb readdb.c". Once compiled, use the command "./weedit -dclnqrs" to specify the desired actions. Choosing "c" will clear the database, while "d" will delete any new duplicates. "L" will load a given name, while "n" will prevent files from being added to the database. Selecting "q" turns on quiet mode, and "r" will delete saved duplicates in the .dat file. Finally, "s" will save a given name.

It is worth noting that if the -r option is selected, only -lq will be supported. WeedIt will automatically save the database once the search is complete, making it an efficient and user-friendly tool for detecting duplicate files.
